EastEnders stars faced a worrying health scare last week.
As members of the cast were turning up for work, engineers fitting fibre-optic cables discovered the cancer-causing material last week at the entrance to the studio, just yards away from the set.
The potentially fatal substance, which can cause cancer, was reportedly found as site workers were fitting fibre-optic near the BBC studios – where Holby City is also filmed.
The work was quickly stopped and the area sealed off in Elstree, Herts.
Stacey Branning actress Lacey Turner and Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt are believed to have been on set at the time.
However, a BBC spokesperson told The Sun that there was no risk to any of the cast or crew and filming was luckily unaffected.
“Excavation work at a trench outside the site has been stopped whilst some tiles are dealt with by licensed contractors.”
