We’re into a lot of things here at Inspectas, though not all of them are suitable to share in our blog. However, two passions we’re happy to admit to are working with best of breed partners, and tackling big challenges head-on. We got both in the shape of our recent London-wide project.
Contracting with leading construction specialists The Sivil Group, we were tasked with undertaking 40 full scale refurbishment surveys at gyms across London, prior to Sivil’s undertaking essential refurbishments to each location. All of the premises varied significantly in terms of age, size, and survey accessibility. And with a one month window in which to complete – and report on – all 40 surveys, the clock was ticking from the moment we took the call.
Time being money, key to the requirement was avoiding any interruption to the business, which meant keeping all of the gyms live and trading while the surveys were completed. Balancing this with the need for Sivil’s to keep to their critical design and build timeframes, we got straight to work on the logistics.
The Process
Demonstrating the proactivity, responsiveness and can-do attitude that our team are known for, we devised a plan that ensured no gym staff or customers were disrupted – so the whole project had to be an out of hours experience.
Liaising with each of the gyms direct, we took responsibility for setting up a schedule where we worked around everyone else. How we made this happen was our problem – but typically it meant starting each survey around 10pm, working through the night until complete, and on weekends too.
Some premises took hours, others days, depending on the size, features and layout. We went into each location blind, so for the larger ones we returned the next night to finish up. All unseen, all without fuss, and all at the owners’ convenience.
The Results
Jobs done – all forty of them. We returned all the surveys to the clients within 3-5 working days, surpassing their expectations and enabling the continuation and confirmation of their refurbishment plans.
