Glasgow buildings to be demolished after thieves disturb asbestos

The derelict buildings on Greenhill Place and Finnieston Street have been deemed unsafe by owners, following a number of break-ins that have disrupted asbestos within the building, leaving it too dangerous to enter.

Owners are now looking to demolish the site which forms part of the Skypark Campus. The buildings are known to contain asbestos, according to developers.

Skypark Unit Trust are looking to flatten the buildings as soon as possible as they are ‘proving to be an impediment to attracting inward investors’. Redevelopment of the site will be market driven and in line with the existing Skypark Campus, which comprises of six office buildings and three development sites.

Glasgow City Council decided that their approval to demolish to buildings was not required.
